Etel Adnan. Vincent van Gogh. Kleur als Taal / Colour as Language
Etel Adnan (1925–2021) was an artist and writer who moved between different languages and societies. The expressive means she found in her art transcended cultural boundaries. Adnan was drawn to Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890) by his personal quest for the good and the real. Use of intense, bright colours enabled both artists to visualize their personal experience of nature.
‘It’s colour that makes us realize the intensity of nature.’ – Etel Adnan
This publication about Etel Adnan is being released shortly after her death in November 2021. The book contains one of Adnan’s last interviews, in which she discusses her work and how Vincent van Gogh influenced her art.
