In March 2008 a masterpiece has been added to the collection of the Van Gogh Museum: The Seine at Nanterre (1907) by Maurice de Vlaminck (1876-1958). His paintings were highly influenced by the works of Vincent van Gogh. De Vlaminck was an important member of Les Fauves, to which also belonged Matisse. His work is characterized by the use of bright colours. There is a reproduction available of this new acquisition.
