A very special design was developed for Expo 2005. The media presentation for this year’s Holland Pavilion focused on Van Gogh’s Almond Blossom of 1890. Siem van der Marel, Head of Design at Royal Leerdam, was commissioned by the Van Gogh Museum to create an artistic impression in crystal of the painting. The result is this elegant, handmade vase, in the same bright blue used by Van Gogh. The web of almond branches catches the light in countless ways. A superb work of art.
