Van Gogh’s bedroom in 'The Yellow House' was simply furnished. With Theo’s financial help Vincent had bought himself, among other things, a pinewood bed. At the left is one of the 12 rush-bottomed chairs he had purchased in anticipation of guests. Van Gogh hoped to found an artists’ colony in Arles, together with his like-minded friends. His first expected visitor was Paul Gauguin, whom he sent a sketch of this painting. During the restauration this reproduction will be available with 40% discount.
