Van Gogh rented 'The Yellow House' on Place Lamartine in Arles in May 1888. Now he finally had his own home, where he could paint and receive his artist-friends. In September he painted this view of his new residence - a yellow building with green shutters against a bright blue sky. The The Bedroom was on the top floor. To the left is the restaurant where Van Gogh often ate.
