Security declaration

The page on which you make your purchases uses the e-Commerce solution produced by Ogone NV, the largest player in the world of electronic commerce in Europe and market leader in the field of secure payments. The security of your payments is Ogone’s constant concern.

How it works

When you deposit information on the payment page or place an order, Ogone e-Commerce checks if your browser connection is secure. The Ogone server is firewall secured; entry to the databases is strictly controlled and sensitive information is coded. Ogone also guarantees not to sell, rent or lease information about customers and contacts to third parties.

The software that is used to process credit card payments includes secure server software (SSL). This encodes information before it is sent to Ogone. The same encryption is used to send your credit card details to Ogone. In a secure zone the start of the URL changes from "http" to "https", which means that the SSL protocol for communication with the server is in operation (http stands for HyperText Transport Protocol; https is HTTP with SSL).

Ogone e-Commerce transfers your financial details to the bank that carries out the financial transaction. The Van Gogh Museum Online Shop only has access to part of the card number to check the purchase.
